Pushkar Camel Fair 2026 is listed for 17–24 November 2026 by Rajasthan Tourism and Incredible India. It takes place in Pushkar, in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district. The useful planning question is which part of the fair you want to see: livestock activity, cultural events, or the lake and pilgrimage atmosphere.
I have rebuilt this guide around the current official dates and the decisions that affect a short visit. It is researched trip-planning guidance, not a claim that I attended the fair.
Quick Summary: Dates, Entry and Planning
- Official festival window: 17–24 November 2026. Check individual event dates separately.
- Entry: Incredible India lists no general entry ticket. Private activities, transport and accommodation cost extra.
- Where to base yourself: stay in Pushkar for convenient early and late outings, or compare Ajmer accommodation together with daily transfers.
- Before paying: confirm your hotel’s exact location, cancellation terms, pickup point and the current programme for any activity you specifically want.
Pushkar Fair 2026 Dates: What Is Confirmed?
| Planning item | Current position | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Festival dates | 17–24 November 2026 | Official tourism listing checked 1 November 2026 |
| Daily programme | Activity times vary | Organiser notices and local programme before travelling |
| General admission | No ticket listed by Incredible India | Separate charges for private activities and packages |
| Livestock activity | Part of the fair’s traditional purpose | Do not assume every day has the same trading activity |
Avoid booking from an old 2025 page or assuming that the fair always falls in early November. Its calendar changes. The published date range also does not mean every competition or performance runs every day. I would choose the activity first, confirm its programme, and then match the train and hotel bookings.
What You Can See at the Fair
The fair combines a livestock gathering with cultural activities and religious visits around Pushkar. Rajasthan Tourism highlights competitions including matka phod, moustache and bridal competitions. Folk performances and the fairground atmosphere are part of the attraction, while the lake and Brahma Temple give the town a separate pilgrimage focus.
Use these as reasons to visit rather than a guaranteed timetable. Balloon rides, photography tours, camel experiences and tent packages should be checked with the actual provider for the travel date. Do not assume an activity is included simply because a hotel or travel advertisement uses the fair’s name.
A Flexible Three-Day Pushkar Fair Plan
| Day | Suggested plan | Booking decision |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Reach Ajmer or Pushkar, check in, then explore the town and lake area | Allow time for the transfer and hotel check-in |
| Day 2 | Use the confirmed daily programme for fairground activities; keep a rest break between outings | Choose a date with the activity you most want |
| Day 3 | Make an unhurried morning visit or short local outing, then depart | Leave transfer time before the return train or flight |
This is my suggested structure, not an official event schedule. If your main aim is livestock photography, ask locally about current trading activity before fixing the fairground session. If you are travelling for religious observance, plan around the relevant ceremonies and the access arrangements announced for them.
How to Reach Pushkar
Ajmer is the main rail gateway for a road transfer to Pushkar. Search train availability for your actual departure city and date, then arrange the onward journey separately. A rail ticket to Ajmer does not normally include a hotel transfer in Pushkar.
For flights, compare Kishangarh and Jaipur against your available routes, arrival time and the full onward transfer. The nearest airport on a map is not automatically the most convenient flight. If you are driving, confirm parking and the final approach with your accommodation rather than assuming you can reach every entrance by car during the fair.
For a longer north India route, see my Golden Triangle Tour guide. Add travel time for Pushkar as its own stop instead of compressing it into an already full Jaipur sightseeing day.
Where to Stay: Town Hotel, Camp or Ajmer Base?
- Pushkar town: ask how far the property is from the places you plan to visit on foot and whether the room faces a noisy street.
- A tented camp: check bathroom arrangements, bedding, hot water, electricity, access after dark and which activities are included. “Luxury camp” alone does not answer these questions.
- Ajmer: compare daily return transport and its availability after evening activities, not just a lower room rate.
Ask for written cancellation terms and the final price including taxes before payment. A room name or an old screenshot does not establish current availability. For groups, confirm the number of actual beds and whether meals and transfers are charged per person or per room.
Build Your Budget from Actual Quotes
| Cost | How to estimate it | Common omission |
|---|---|---|
| Train or flight | Use the fare for your exact dates and baggage needs | Station or airport transfers |
| Hotel or camp | Multiply the final nightly price by the nights required | Taxes, meals and extra-bed charges |
| Local travel | Get a return quote with waiting and pickup terms | Late-evening return or parking charges |
| Food and activities | Keep these separate from accommodation unless explicitly included | Private tour, ride or activity charges |
I am not presenting a fixed 2026 trip total without live bookings behind it. For a two-night visit, add the return long-distance fare, both arrival and departure transfers, two nights of accommodation, meals and any chosen activities. Keep a separate contingency rather than spending the entire amount on the room.
What to Pack and How to Visit Respectfully
- Wear broken-in footwear for fairground and town walks. Carry a removable warm layer for early and late outings.
- Keep water, sun protection and a small zipped day bag accessible. Leave bulky luggage at your accommodation.
- Carry small rupee notes as a backup alongside your digital payment method. Confirm the amount before approving payments.
- Follow rules at temples and ghats, remove footwear where required, and ask before photographing worshippers or identifiable people at close range.
- Agree a price before accepting a guide, ritual service, ride or private activity. Participation should be a deliberate choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the confirmed Pushkar Camel Fair 2026 dates?
Rajasthan Tourism and Incredible India list Pushkar Fair for 17–24 November 2026. Use those dates for the published festival window. Individual livestock arrivals, competitions, cultural programmes and religious activities do not necessarily follow one shared timetable. Recheck the organisers’ programme before choosing a date for a particular event.
Is Pushkar Camel Fair entry free?
Incredible India lists no entry ticket for the fair. That does not include transport, accommodation, meals, rides, guided tours or private activities. Ask for the total price and what it includes before booking any package. A tour operator’s package charge should not be confused with a general fair admission fee.
Should I stay in Pushkar or visit from Ajmer?
Stay in Pushkar if early starts, evening activities and time around the lake matter most to you. Ajmer can work as a base when you prefer returning to a city hotel. Compare the full cost of transfers, travel time, parking restrictions and the exact location of your accommodation before deciding.
Can I combine Pushkar Fair with a Delhi, Agra and Jaipur trip?
Yes, but treat Pushkar as an additional stop rather than a short detour between every major attraction. A practical route uses Ajmer as the rail gateway, followed by a road transfer to Pushkar. Check real train availability and leave a separate travel buffer around flights and other fixed bookings.
